Do you have a Shopify store? Have you ever thought about being a supplier? You can turn your shop into a wholesale business, let’s take a look at how you can do it!
Becoming a supplier is not as difficult as it may sound. It has several advantages, you can reach more potential customers with your business, you can work on a bigger market, and this way, you can get more income.
If you’ve already considered being a supplier what could have been the reason you didn’t start the process? Did you find it complicated? Didn’t you know its steps? You don’t have to be puzzled anymore, we give you a guide here and you will see, it can be a piece of cake if you already have a Shopify store.
Take a look at the details and see what steps should you deliberate. So, as I already referred to it, this guide is for those who have already had a Shopify store—maybe for those too, who are just thinking about opening one, but for them, it can be a bit difficult because they are not managing these e-commerce processes yet.
Choose the business type
You have to decide whether you want to turn your Shopify store into a drop ship or a wholesale business. Please note, you don’t have to give up on being a retailer.
When you are becoming a supplier, you have to create a menu for your clients on your website. You have to title it with the Drop shipping or Wholesale words. Place it on the top of your page. Why is it important to decide between these two?
As a supplier, you will provide products to retailers, and indirectly to buyers. However, when it’s about the shipping of the products, you have two options to choose from. One of them is the type when you ship the ordered products directly to the customer’s house, this is drop shipping. The other one is when you ship items to the retailer you work with, and it’s their duty to send the packages to the buyers. This is the wholesale model.
Where do you ship?
You have to find out where do you want to ship. It can be worldwide, you can designate continents or only just a few countries. After deciding, you have to clear the former processes and find out how will you manage the shipping. When you are ready, indicate it on your site so that everyone can know where do you ship. It can help retailers to make it clear for themselves whether they want to or can work with you or not.
As you already have a Shopify store, you know how to manage shipping processes, obviously. So it means, it won’t be hard for you even as a supplier, because it’s the same. There’s nothing to worry about.
Products you provide
First of all, we have to start it from the beginning. The most important thing is that you already have to have items in your Shopify store. Then, the second thing is that all of them, or the chosen products need to be marketable. People don’t want to get any common-place commodity. You have to choose products you can put a neat margin on, you shouldn’t forget that your retailers need good income too, not just you.
You can be engaging for retailers by for example giving discounts. As using Shopify, the easiest way is to provide coupons, the platform offers this feature. You can decide the percentage and everything. If retailers can see that you are nice and reliable, they will feel that it’s a good business for them and it worth working with you. You always have to provide them something extra.
Install Syncee, use the Syncee Supplier Exchange
Syncee is a product managing application, it’s a top rated service in Shopify’s App Store in the Finding and adding products category, Finding suppliers subcategory. Retailers can easily add products from their suppliers with Syncee, they can do import, update, and upsert, the software does these automatically. From this spring, Syncee has a catalog called Syncee Supplier Exchange (SSE) that is good for both retailers and suppliers. It already has more than 60 suppliers now, and it’s constantly updated.
If you install Syncee—that has a 7-day free trial anyway—, you can export the products you have in your store, every necessary data of them into a CSV file and share it with other Shopify merchants. Retailers have a hard time finding the perfect supplier for their niche, furthermore, only a few wholesalers ship overseas and offer a data feed file for online store owners. Take advantage of this. With the product export feature, you can automate the whole process by scheduling the running of the export, anytime you want.
After creating the CSV file, you can create a menu on your online store for those who are enquiring about your supplier service. You will be able to provide them the data feed file Syncee created with every crucial detail.
By the way, using the Supplier Exchange, online store owners can speed up the whole product import process, with only a few clicks. The Syncee team created this list of trustworthy suppliers, as a result, retailers can forget about the setting up of their tasks in Syncee, because everything is already created beforehand. All that registered merchants need to do is to select a supplier from the list, contact it, filter the products the entrepreneur needs, and add a price margin. However, contacting the supplier is not necessary in every case, you can import from these without this step. But if you want to manage the orders, when you will have, you have to register on the supplier’s site.
So, when you, as a supplier, want to fulfill orders, you truly have to register on the supplier’s website so that you can submit orders. Furthermore, if it’s needed, you have to pay for a plan at the supplier, if it’s needed.
The Syncee Supplier Exchange connects Shopify retailers and suppliers from all around the world who offer drop shipping or remote warehousing service.

More about the SSE
Well, Syncee does the export process for you if you have a store, but it’s good to know what a data feed file should contain. If you have questions about the content of the file, make sure you include the following information:
- SKU, Variant SKU
- Barcode or Handle
- Public Image URL
- Inventory Quantity
- Option Value 1
- Option Value 2
To access the Syncee Supplier Exchange, login to your Syncee Dashboard and click on the Supplier Exchange menu.
By the way, if a company is in the supplier list, much information will be available about them, such as a short description, a recommendation of possible margin, the number of items they are offering, delivery information (place, time), warehouse location, contact details, currency and so on.
If Syncee users, the retailers who work with us, are already importing your products, you will be able to see them in your Syncee Dashboard’s My retailers menu. It’s not necessary to install Syncee in every case if you want to be in the Supplier Exchange.
To retailers, importing the products of the suppliers from this list does not equal with a subscription on the supplier’s page. Many of the wholesalers, drop shippers require their customers to pay a monthly, annual or one-time fee in order to place orders.
