If you follow our activity to any extent, you already know we do not recommend using marketplaces. In this article, we show you proof why we oppose this product source for your online store.
Have you ever heard disappointed people complaining about their purchases from eBay, AliExpress, and other marketplaces? We did many many times. This is why we thought we will compile an article which visually shows you why we do not recommend you to work with these “suppliers”.
If you do not yet know our arguments against this approach of drop shipping, you can read several articles on this topic. For example, why you should work with real supplier companies instead of other sources. Moreover, in many of our other articles, we mention an alternative of drop shipping, which is better for overseeing the quality of the products you sell, that is remote warehousing.
Let’s dive into this topic, and explore the visual evidence of marketplace failures.
1. Size Problems
2. What about color and material?
3. Not even close
4. Do you want a sexy bikini?
5. Classy winter coat went wrong

These 15 people are now 100% sure that they will not ever order again from these marketplaces. If you do not want your precious customer to be the next victim of these faulty items, you shouldn’t cooperate with these shady retailers. You need to keep in mind that most sellers on these sites are not wholesalers, thus selling their own items, but they are middle-men just like you are. They are reselling the items of Chinese manufacturers and sell it to Shopify merchants. If you really want your store to avoid selling bad quality items, work with real, established supplier companies who have a guarantee for unique, quality products that really work. They give your customers warranty and provide support. Most of all, as we recommend you to work with vendors who are close to your target market, the shipping time will decrease greatly, which increases customer satisfaction.
If you still have doubts about leaving this “traditional” form and source of drop shipping, check out our previous article which analyzes the current upheaval around drop shipping being dead. In that article, we specify what is the problem with the original approach, the teachings of Shopify gurus and with the way people do business today. Moreover, we not just explain the problems but tell you what you should do to distinguish your store.
As an online retailer, your top objective should be the satisfaction of the customer. If you keep this at the top of your priority list and align all your business strategy in accordance with it you are on a great track. If not, we advise you to reorder your priorities in order to flourish your store.
